The Aztec civilization thrived from the 14th century to the 16th century until the Spanish conquest ended their reign. They believed in many gods and myths, using Aztec symbols to represent their beliefs. Animals played a particularly significant part of their culture. The Aztecs were one of the most artistic civilizations and we have learned much about them through their art.
The Aztec's legacy is still felt today and can be seen in everyday products such as T-shirts, hats, bags and other clothing items. The mythical Phoenix bird depicted re-birth and the frog represented joy. Butterflies stood for transformation, turtles symbolized earth and the fish was the animal for instinct and determination. The monkey was a symbol of celebration and dance.
The Aztecs devised a calendar and used symbols to denote the days of the month. Animals again featured and included the crocodile, lizard, serpent, deer, rabbit, dog and monkey. The other symbols used were a house, wind, death and water. The sun forms a central part of the calendar, as the sun was very important to the Aztecs.
Today, the influence of this civilization can be seen in tattoos, something that the Aztecs themselves were fond of having. They held art in high esteem and considered tattoos to be a kind of art work, even paying tribute to their god, Uitzilopochtle by having one. The most common images used by modern tattooists are the sun, serpents, gods and various pictograms. Some of these tattoos are elaborate and are executed by the most skilled tattooists.

Become a Real Estate Developer!

I've wanted to run my own business ever since I can remember. As a kid, I saw my dad go to work for 10-12 hours per day just to line someone else's pockets, and I promised myself that I wouldn't end up like that. Of course, I can't simply snap my fingers and become a real estate developer just like that. I'll have to take classes, become certified, and get some experience under my belt before I start making real money. The first order of business, therefore, is for me to find accredited courses that will help me learn the ins and outs of the industry. I prefer taking online classes because of the convenience, so I'll start by looking at those.
This must be a popular field of study, because there are lots of different ways for me to learn how to become a real estate developer, including the online class options that I was looking for. Since these classes are offered over the Internet, it doesn't matter where I live or where the school is located. I can learn to become a real estate developer right from my own home, studying whenever I have some spare time (even if it's two o'clock in the morning).
That's precisely what I want, so right now I'm in the process of comparing the different course offerings from different institutions to see which ones will give me the knowledge I need to become a real estate developer (at tuition rates I can actually afford). There are so many choices out there that it's going to take some time for me to go through them thoroughly enough to make a decision. Then once I get this figured out, I'm going to enroll as soon as possible so I'll be that much closer to being able to quit my day job.
I know that becoming a real estate developer won't be easy, nor will it happen overnight. But I think that as long as I'm aware of the potential difficulties ahead, I'll be able to overcome them and make my dreams come true. After all, the harder something is to achieve, the sweeter the reward in the end!

I have reached one of those times in my live where I am reflecting on what impact I have made on the world around me and how many of my personal goals I have achieved. This year I will turn fifty years old, a definite mile marker in my life. I have decided that it is time to take a long look at what I still want to accomplish.

One of the areas I am most proud of is how I have parented my children. My husband and I were blessed with two sons and a daughter. She worked very successfully for a major computer company. This job involved a great deal of travel to help set up companies with computer systems and to trouble shoot problems that they had with the systems. She enjoyed the work and travel a great deal; however it was not the type of job that is conducive to raising a family. When she learned that she was pregnant with her first child she decided that she needed to research career options that allowed her to be at home. The computer company she was with had some options that she could do through telecommuting; however she thought she would like to try something new. She is good at work with computers, but she wanted a new challenge and also wanted to stay at home with her child.

She began looking into home based businesses that can create income and would require only part-time work. Out of the many possibilities the business she decided to pursue was buying real estate. She went through training on-line and began her new business by buying a small apartment building in the western part of the untied states. She then listed the property and sold it for a profit within three weeks. She was very excited about her success and immediately bought another property. She has been buying real estate and selling it for a profit for three years. She has been so successful at doing this that her husband has quit his job and is working the business with her. They put in about twenty hours a week and are making a six figure income. She loves the work, but is more thrilled with the fact that she is home full time. She is now about to give birth to their second child. She has been a full time mom to her first born and is excited that her husband will be able to be a full time dad to both of the children. Buying real estate is not the home based business for everyone, but it has been very successful for them. She insists that I should look into getting involved with it also. It may be fun to start a new career as a reach the half century mark of my life.

Antique Oak Curio Cabinet

When my kids were growing up, it was easy to decide what to put into the antique oak curio cabinet. After all, we had very creative children. They were always involved in arts and crafts, from the time they were very little until they graduated high school. We knew that we needed some more objects, but we were not big collectors of anything. That is how we started to accumulate, one piece at a time, a great bunch of antique curio.
The first item of antique curio that we ever got for that closet was an old pocket watch. My grandfather had an antique watch when I was growing up, and one day he gave it to me. I lost it on a camping trip unfortunately, and to this day it is one of the biggest regrets of my life. Needless to say, when I found an antique pocket watch just like his in a local store, I was overjoyed.
Soon, there were new pieces of antique curio joining the watch. We found a fine, ornamental antique compass. It didn't work anymore, but it was extremely decorative. It probably was part of a ship at one point, and was large and easy to read, with beautiful gold letters. It fit perfectly in that antique curio cabinet, right beside the pocket watch. My wife had a few antique dolls in storage, and rather than keeping them in a dark cupboard somewhere, we decided to add them to the cabinet. Soon, we added my old class ring, a few wedding photographs of our grandparents, and an antique toy car – one of those windup models that was popular before batteries. Although I miss my children living with me, it is nice to be able to add new life to that antique cabinet. Life, after all, must continue.

I used to think that the idea of changing your eye color was silly and vain. I have always believed that, in general, you should be happy with what God gave you. Sure, if you have some kind of incurable disease, you should take every action to fix it. If you're morbidly obese or are missing a leg, get whatever kind of corrective surgery that you need to make your life normal again. I struggled with my inner conscience for a while, but in the end I could not remember why I thought a fresh look contact lens was unethical. What was immoral about it? Why not change your appearance? At first, I thought this idea was a little bit extreme. After all, it would be quite disorienting to look at someone with a red eye and a green eye. After awhile, however, I decided to go with it. I figured I would get a fresh look contact lens set in each color and see which combination looked the best. Then, if I had to have normal eye color, I could put a natural colored lens in. it turns out that combination I was most happy with was orange and red. I know that this might sound ugly, but the effect really is quite stunning.
